Dr. Marta Guarna is a Scientist and Project Manager working on translational research in honey bee and human health projects. As Scientific Director of Bee IPM, one of g.e@UBC partner projects, Marta has coordinated the efforts of a team of Scientists, Beekeepers and Economists working to improve honey bee health.  She enjoys being a voice for the project in industry and scientific meetings, and is honored to serve as expert reviewer for Genome Canada, scientific journals, and the European Commission.

Previous to her role with Bee IPM, Marta worked as Scientist, Team leader, and Director in Biotech and Biopharmaceutical companies and was instrumental to the advancement of drug candidates to clinical trials. She received a Biochemistry degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and MSc and PhD degrees from New York University.
